DA Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. will hold news conference on human trafficking prevention at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 26
Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. – in collaboration with Rio Grande Valley Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce, the Office of the Governor of Texas Child Sex Trafficking Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Border Patrol Joint Taskforce West South Texas Corridor, Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, City of Pharr, and the Humanitarian Respite Center of Catholic Social Services – will hold a news conference and informational fair to educate the community on human trafficking prevention on Thursday, July 26 at the Pharr Events Center.
The news conference, which begins at 4 p.m., will include guest speakers from federal, state, and local stakeholders.
Speakers include First Assistant Criminal District Attorney Juan Villescas; Todd Latiolais of the Office of the Governor of Texas Child Sex Trafficking Team; Deputy Timothy J. Tubbs of Homeland Security Investigations; SBPA Patrick Reilly of Operation Big Rig of the U.S. Border Patrol; Sister Norma Pimentel of the Humanitarian Respite Center; Mayor Amborsio Hernandez of City of Pharr; Marissa Cano and Investigator Juan Cano, Chairs of the Rio Grande Valley Anti Human Trafficking Taskforce. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard will present the Pledge of Allegiance and Rosie Martinez, HCDA Victims Unit Director, will emcee the event.
Various agencies, non-profit organizations, and law enforcement representatives will participate in the informational fair, which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be food, drinks and door prizes for the public.
During the news conference, the City of Pharr and County of Hidalgo will present proclamations declaring July as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
