RST is celebrating 40 years of open hearts and fresh starts this year. In honor of our 40th anniversary, RST is looking back on the history of refugees and the contributions they have made to the world.
Dr. Haing S. Ngor survived the Khmer Rouge and was later resettled in the United States. He was then trained as a gynecologist and obstetrician. Initally he was not intrested in acting at all, but decided to pursue it later on because he wanted to tell the Cambodian story. He won Best Actor for his role in The Killing Feilds and later on won an Academy Award for the same role. He would go on to countiue acting for the rest of his life.
