A Refugee Culinary Experience @ SXSW
Komeeda Displaced Kitchens is coming to SXSW! After our panel on Community Empowerment through Food, Komeeda and Qahtan Mustafa of Refugee Services of Texas feasts with the Austin community over a culturally immersive dining experience titled "Feast of Baghdad".

This storytelling feast is about an Iraqi couple by the name of Ayman Bashi and Raya Thanoon who came into this country a couple years ago with absolutely nothing but a dream to survive and live the American dream. Safety was all that they were looking for when they came to America. Today, Raya and Ayman are owners, chefs, and operators of a locally celebrated catering company BaiTi food. They engage with us and put on a display of how food was their vehicle to get back on their feet and to connect with their new community through the delicious and rich Iraqi cuisine.

This Fun Eating Experience is made possible with the support and honored partnership with Refugee Services of Texas - Austin. RSVP proceeds go to supporting the RST mission of welcoming and supporting displaced and vulnerable populations in Texas.
