TOM STOPPARD

January, 8th 1998 - Shakespeare in Love, written by Tom Stoppard, was released to the whole Unitied States. 

Shakespeare in Love would go on to win 7 awards at the 71st Academy Awards, including Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen to Tom Stoppard. On 15 March 1939, the day that the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia, the Straussler family fled to Singapore. Before the Japanese army invaded Singapore, Tom and his brother and mother moved to Australia. Tom would become one of the most famous British play writers of all time.

RST is celebrating 40 years of open hearts and fresh starts this year. In honor of our 40th anniversary, RST is looking back on the history of refugees and the contributions they have made to the world.
