Internships

Refugee Services of Texas offers semester and summer internships. Interns must be sensitive to clients' cultural and linguistic differences and be aware of proper boundaries for interaction. School credit is available with qualifying universities, but student status is not required. Stipends are not available, but mileage reimbursement is possible.


Administration

Grants and Funder Relations Intern

RST is seeking internship candidates who aspire to gain more experience in grant and funding research, writing and reporting. The intern will collaborate with the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager and other development staff to perform tasks related to prospect research, proposal development, and stewardship/reporting, in addition to general development tasks. Development Intern

RST is seeking internship candidates who aspire to gain more experience in fundraising and philanthropic work. The intern will collaborate with the Development Associate and other development staff to perform tasks related to donor stewardship, prospecting new supporter connections, event planning, Advisory Council management throughout the state, data management, and facilitating service center tours. Case Aid Intern

RST is seeking a case aide intern to assist with their various programs. Internship duties consist of assisting newly-arrived individuals with social services, cultural orientations, school enrollment, and community integration. Interns may assist clients in scheduling transportation to health appointments, apartment set-ups, or other services related to helping refugee clients attain self-sufficiency in the United States. Resettlement Case Aid Internship

RST is seeking a resettlement intern to learn and assist with case management for refugee and Afghan evacuee clients. Duties include but are not limited to coordinating cultural orientations for new arrivals and other administrative tasks to further the RST mission. Click here to read more.

Employment Case Aid Internship

RST is seeking an Undergraduate and/or Master's level intern to assist with their Employment Program. Duties also consist of assisting newly arrived individuals with job development, job search, applying for jobs, going to job interviews, or other services related to helping clients find employment and attain self-sufficiency in the United States. Preferred Communities (PC) Internship

The PC intern will gain experience working with vulnerable populations such as single mothers, the severely disabled, or other populations that the RST site decides to focus on and will have opportunities to shadow our incredible case management team. Duties will include assisting the Community Engagement Coordinator with volunteer management, clinic missions, event planning, and aiding in volunteer events and activities for the PC Program such as workshops, vision, and dental clinic events, PC volunteer orientation and meetings, and more. Survivors of Trafficking Empowerment (STEP) Internship

The Survivors of Trafficking Empowerment Program (STEP) Intern will gain experience working with vulnerable populations and have opportunities to shadow our incredible case managers. Employment Case Aid Internship

Internship duties consist of assisting newly arrived individuals with resume building and email creation, cultural orientation, job development, and community integration. An intern may assist clients in applying for jobs, going to job interviews, or other services related to helping refugee clients find employment and attain self-sufficiency in the United States. Refugee Cash Assistance Case Aid Internship

Refugee Services of Texas in Dallas is seeking an organized and culturally sensitive intern to join its dynamic team either part-time or full-time in its Dallas office. A Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) intern works with clients who have been in the U.S. for less than eight months and are eligible to receive cash assistance. Social Adjustment Services Internship

Interns will work closely with Social Adjustment Services Case Managers to ensure clients have access to medical services and care. Communicate with city and state agencies to coordinate housing and medical services, provide transportation, and help mentor a family or individual. Education Internship

Support Specialist Internship

Our Houston office couldn't operate without a support specialist to work with the vulnerable populations that make up the families we serve! Interns will learn more about the populations RST serves, community resources, and our programs! This internship is available both full and part-time. Refugee Support Services (RSS) Case Aid Internship

Interns will work closely with Social Adjustment Services Case Managers to support services related to helping vulnerable populations attain self-sufficiency in the U.S. They will also assist case managers to ensure clients have access to public benefits, emergency housing, or health and medical services. Click here to read more.

Resettlement Case Aid Internship

The Houston office is looking to work with interns for its Social Adjustment Services and Resettlement Program. Interns will learn about community resources, create a service plan, and provide case management to a diverse group of clients. This internship is available both full and part-time. The Houston office is looking for an intern(s) to work closely with the Houston Community Engagement Coordinator. Cultural Orientation Internship

This position is open to students who are willing to lead in a continued effort to orientate refugees so that they may become self-sufficient and integrate successfully into their new community. As the cultural orientation intern, the student will develop and coordinate cultural orientations according to client needs, develop learning opportunities, and ensure the continued success of the program and the clients. Click here to read more.

The Houston office is recruiting a Volunteer Management Intern. RST has a variety of volunteer initiatives that help to welcome refugees. RST is seeking an intern to assist with their Cash and Medical Assistance (CMA) Program. The CMA internship will be project-based, both allowing the intern to utilize computer skills, and gain an understanding of the U.S. Refugee Program and the various domestic and international policies influencing refugee resettlement. Administrative Internship

Refugee Services of Texas is looking for an intern to join the new San Antonio office and support administrative initiatives, such as assisting Case Managers with tasks for vulnerable populations, managing the lobby and greeting clients as they arrive, facilitating new client paperwork, and managing incoming donations.
