Austin celebrated World Refugee Day 2014 on Saturday, June 14. The event was hosted by Bullock Texas State History Museum.  The event included family-friendly games and activities, various performances by members of the community, food, and a citizenship ceremony. RST Austin Resettlement Supervisor Qahtan Mustafa was the featured speaker for the citizenship ceremony, during which three RST Austin staff members were naturalized. World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations to honor the courage, strength, and determination of women, men, and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict, and violence.
